Conference: "Total Massage Step-by-step massage techniques to relax the body and spirit" by Karen Smith is a simple book, with sequences of pictures and explanations of basic massage strokes and massage techniques. Smith is a former professional dancer, a professionally qualified massage therapist, aromatherapist and reflexologist and runs her own Pilates studio in London. In this book, Smith has done a good job of introducing massage through his writing and workPhotography by Antonia Deutsch. I do not know if there is anything that makes this massage to all the other books over the years, but if you get a basic book, want to massage, this is a good book for this.

Smith begins the book with an introduction on the importance of touch and what is the book cover. Then there is a short piece of touch and smell with information on essential oils and how to mix them. She also offers her reasons why you should massagewith oils and then a good piece on preparing for a massage. With these assumptions care, it should be in the description of techniques such as effeurage, "fly" or, petrissage or "kneading" kneading, squeezing, sliding the thumb, thumb around, cupping and hacking, feathers and stroke, and knuckles. Each of these descriptions are brief and clear, and accompanied by photos.
